May Script-Time: Obedience and Purpose

Welcome to this months Script-Time, can you believe May is here already and we are almost half way through the year.  I personally love this month,  it is  the month after Jesus died and rose from the dead.  It is the beginning of the events leading up to Pentecost, where Jesus returns to heaven and the gift of His holy spirit falls upon the disciples. The disciples then go out in all the land to spread the good news- the word of God.

Scripture:

“Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose” (Philippians 2:12-13 NIV).

“What  I’m getting at, friends, is that you should simply keep on doing what you’ve done from the beginning. When I was living among you, you lived in responsive obedience. Now that I’m separated from you, keep it up. Better yet, redouble your efforts. Be energetic in your life of salvation, reverent and sensitive before God. That energy is God’s energy, an energy deep within you, God himself willing and working at what will give him the most pleasure. (Philippians 2:12-13 MSG)

Reflection:

The  Scripture here is talking to us about being obedient and to  work out our own salvation.  This is not always easy and sometimes we can be so busy living out the live’s that we planned for ourselves,  that  we even forget the purpose behind them.

Let me tell you there is great joy in the discovery of God’s purpose your life,  even when it does not look like anything we have planned!

Trust me,  Life Essence was never something that was on my plan of things to do with my life-I am a very shy person and I am stretched every time I send out a video blog, but I  am obedient to God and I know this is my purpose to support and encourage others. As you can see His purposes not only encompass our lives, but the lives of those around us—be that at home, school, work, and community.

Do not get me wrong we are driven by the demands of life, however there can be times when we forget that God always has a greater purpose in what we do. When we trust in Him rather than on our feelings or pressures from other people, we then start to walk in the will of God and purpose He set out for us.

God’s greater purpose has to always be on the forefront of our minds. There are times when we will be offered employment, business opportunities, and marriage opportunities that may not fit in God’s purpose. This takes wisdom on our part to wait on God’s peace before making hasty decisions that may have lifetime ramifications.

Are you wondering what your purpose is, or do you know what you are called to do and not yet started ?

Why not spend some time with God and ask for some direction on your life and what He would like you to do. After all God loves a man/women who is after His own heart.

Read this prayer out allowed, more than once and let it penetrate your heart and allow God to visit you and guide you.

Prayer:

Lord Father, I thank you for breath and for another day to get closer to you. Lord I thank you for the ability to look to you for direction and clarity for the purpose of my life.

Lord I come to you with an open obedient heart  and open mind, I understand that the plan that I have for my life may not be the journey you wish for me.

Lord I pray that you speak to me in a way that only I will understand, let me hear your voice and confirm your will and my next steps.

Lord I pray that distractions are cleared out of life, remove anything that is within me that maybe hindering me from doing your work.

Lord I pray for wisdom and faith to step out boldly in your name.  I am here and ready to do your well, work in me as you will.

In Jesus name Amen
