Hello LE Family and Hello March 🥰
Welcome to another chapter in my life and the ‘Significant 12 Series’, if you missed the last two blogs please hit the links Well, Well, Well! and Home Sweet Home!
Spring is almost here, daffodils are blooming, and the ducks and rabbits are getting ready for a new life, as their ducklings are to be hatched and to give birth to their bunnies. So precious!
When I think of daffodils, I am reminded of sunshine and new beginnings, that’s what daffodils are. They’re sunshine and NEWNESS! the birth flower of the month of March.
It is also the month that we celebrate our mothers, Ironically, daffodils always remind me of my mum, as they are her favorite flowers.
This leads us nicely into this month’s scripture- Deuteronomy 5:16, Which is all about honoring our mother and father. So it is very fitting that God has put my mum on my heart in this season.
-The Key Scriptures-
As adults, and working parents, dealing with the traumas that life has dealt us, both past and present can be consuming. Life can really get busy, before we know it years have passed, and we have not made any new memories with the ones we love.
This is where I found myself with my own mum, wanting our connection is as strong as it should be in this season.
As a teenager, I was a bit naughty and really rebelled against my mum, I can admit now I was a nightmare! (I’m pretty sure most of you will relate)
I thought she was just interfering and telling me what to do, which was extremely annoying as I thought I knew best! Now as a mother of a teenage son and my daughter who is a young adult, I realize that all my mum wanted was the best for me and she cared what happened to me. She was not interfering she was protecting! 🙂
Finding God and experiencing his unconditional love, has been a life-changing, life-altering, resolution and restorative process for me. Experiencing forgiveness and learning how to forgive, changed my whole outlook on life. At this point, I chose to forgive everyone in life and to rebuild relationships which those who generally cared about me, this included both my parents. Maybe I’ll write a blog for my dad on Father’s day as the Lord leads.
In 2022, I had the best year and time with my mum. Mum wanted to learn figure skating, and when she wants to do something she is all in. So off mum went booking us weekly figure skating lessons, and kitting us out with snazzy white figure skates.
We sure looked the part, both having been ice-skaters in our youth we thought we were really good until we stepped on the ice and both had a fall (don’t laugh).
My fall was so dramatic, head 1st sliding into the barriers- so embarrassed, I decided to just lay there until help arrived and helped me off the Ice. Demoting myself back to level 1 from level 3, mum also demoted herself back to the beginners. I held onto the edge for dear life for months, refusing to progress….very Funny!
We also took trips to beaches, the Isle of White and Grand Canary which were all amazing! We had so much fun exploring, learning from each other, and enjoying life.
I am so grateful to God for my mum and the new time He has given us, restoring our relationship, and rebuilding our connection which has allowed us to have fun times together, and create wonderful new memories TOGETHER that will last a lifetime.
Love you Mum x

-Reflection and Meditation-
Show me a family that does not have any problems, I can guarantee that you will find none. Families are private, so they tend to keep any drama, pain, and hurt to themselves. Unless they are in the public eye like we have seen with the British Royal Family, with Harry & Megan.
The way I look at it is that we all get it wrong in life and make mistakes, however, it is how we work through, acknowledge, heal, and move forward that makes all the difference. No family is perfect!
“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:-Isaiah 1:18-19 KJV
As you have read through this you may have found yourself wondering about your own family and friendships, ones where you have maybe lost connections or are broken for a variety of reasons from, distance, betrayal, addictions, abuse, divorce, toxic behaviors, and family arguments. God is a God of restoration and when you invite Him into your own life and your family’s lives, there will be a change. He will make it right, in His own way. God loves family, unity, and togetherness, He told Adam and Eve to multiply and fill the earth-God made Family!
“He replied, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. -Matthew 15:13 NIV
“How wonderful, how beautiful when brothers and sisters get along-Psalm 133:5 MSG
“Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.- Jeremiah 17:7-8 KJV
Practical Biblical Steps For Restoring Broken Relationships.
- The first thing you can do is pray for your family’s forgiveness and grant forgiveness.
- Acknowledge your wrongs.
- Use your words rightly and communicate effectively.
- Humble yourself.
- Don’t rush the process of restoration.
- Be sure all are committed to loving.
- Focus on reconciliation, not resolution.
- Working on your own issues not the other person.
- Make the first move in making things work.
- Talk to God before talking to the person.
Don’t give up hope if you can’t repair the connection! If it is His will He will most definitely will. At times there are real reasons that God will not allow a connection to be restored, this might be due to abuse and harmful behaviors.
There are other supportive alternatives. You might ask God to help you in finding forgiveness and peace in your own heart. You may also find that speaking with a Pastor, Priest or Counsellor about what went wrong and how you can all move ahead apart or together.
Do not lean on your own understanding: pray and wait for His leading.
